Pioneer Nation

Pioneer Nation took place in Portland, Oregon at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. It was a gathering for small business owners and entrepreneurs who wanted to grow. The weekend conference was multi-purposed: to help attendees learn, connect, and work together. Speakers led engaging conversations with attendees followed by breakout sessions that took place over the weekend.

The Spirit of the Pioneer

Our studio was brought in to brand the conference and produce all of the visual pieces for the event. Our designs were inspired by Native American folk art. We also created an original, hand-set font to represent the spirit of the pioneer throughout the event.

Attendee Badge System

Each attendee was given a laser-etched badge made out of wood and wIth it came a system of cards that had lettering or icons on them, but they were also given blank ones. We wanted each attendee (being the trailblazers and independent thinkers that they are) to create their own cards to express themselves. Prompts like “My #1 Goal Is:” and “My Business Is:” helped to guide them through customizing their badges.

The Conference

The location where the event took place is an Art College and getting around the halls isn’t exactly simple. We created signage and wayfinding to help attendee’s navigate themselves through the conference as well as other branding pieces to bring the pioneer look together. After leaving the conference, Pioneers were born-again, continuing their paths toward independent success.
